Book excerpt: How to See and Think Differently Is life hard or we are just making it up in our own mind? What we perceive is what we believe, and all this is based on what we hear, see, feel, and think. Our perception drives our behaviors every day and our thoughts are perhaps the most crucial components of our ability to perceive. In this 3 books in 1 bundle, we will discuss in details on the power of our perception and explore how the way our mind works affects our perception. We will take a closer look at how each of us perceives the sight and sound we receive in a way which is very different from each others. We will also discuss the importance of perception in our understanding of what reality really is, and reveal some shocking "Real Life Scenarios" which will consolidate your understanding of our perception. we’ll be diving in topics that all of us will face. Herd mentality, insecurity, and topics that are related to how we can “ Think Outside The Box “. We’ll talk about why and how people act the same way or adopt similar behaviors as the people around them — often ignoring their own feelings in the process. It Only Takes One Opportunity To Change Someone's Life For the last book, we will learn and find out how to take advantage of the opportunities around us. We have countless opportunities around us that go wasted everyday and this is due to the lack of awareness that we have regarding the importance of creating opportunities for ourselves. Whether it is regarding that someone special, family, friends, co-workers, acquaintances, new individuals or jobs around us, magical opportunities are always waiting for us, but we have to be able to recognize an opportunity when we see one. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 462 pages. Book excerpt: This is a study about perceptions of well-being. Its purpose is to investigate how these perceptions are organized in the minds of different groups of American adults, to find valid and efficient ways of measuring these percep tions, to suggest ways these measurement methods could be implemented to yield a series of social indicators, and to provide some initial readings on these indicators; i.e., some information about the levels of well-being perceived by Americans. The findings are based on data from more than five thousand Americans and include results from four separate representative samplings of the American population. One of the ways our research is unusual is that it includes a major methodological component. Typical surveys involve a modest effort at instru ment development, the application of the instrument to a group of respondents, and an analysis of the resulting data that mainly describes the people studied. Our work, however, was implemented in a series of sequential cycles, each of which consisted of conceptual development, instrument design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Ideas and findings generated in prior cycles affected the design of subsequent cycles.

This book was released on 2020-12-10 with total page 381 pages. Book excerpt: In volume I, Kleinberg-Levin interprets five key words in Heidegger’s project. In this second volume, he illuminates their significance for Heidegger’s phenomenology of perception and his philosophy of history. At stake is the possibility of a new experience and understanding of being. Taking us beyond the metaphysical understanding of being, Heidegger proposes to introduce a new key word Seyn (beyng). Beyng is the Da-sein-appropriating event in which a clearing occurs as an open dimension for the time-space interplay of concealment and unconcealment, an interplay within which beings are experienced in regard to the various modes and inflections of presence and absence that the grammar of temporalities articulates. Concentrating on the appropriation of seeing and hearing as capacities and capabilities bearing promising potentialities that could be developed, Kleinberg-Levin examines seeing and hearing in the context of Heidegger’s critique of the history of metaphysics, wherein vision has served as paradigm for knowledge, truth, and reality. He shows that, in Heidegger’s philosophy of history, seeing and hearing are given a role in the transformation of the character of humanity, redeeming their own inherent potential. Perceptual experience has undergone accelerating processes of deformation and reification, encouraging a disposition that makes it serve technological and technocratic imperatives; but we might begin to redeem the promising potential in seeing and hearing, turning their damaged and dehumanized character, and their violence, towards the creation of a new planetary existence—what Heidegger imagines through the topology of the fourfold: earth and sky, mortals and the gods who embody our ideals. In this project, we are put in question by a responsibility that summons us, in our seeing and hearing, to the response-abilities most befitting our historically shared sense of an achieved humanity.

Book excerpt: Agent Tiki Gibbs, 25 year veteran of The Agency - a super-secret government group that specializes in finding people who do not wish to be found - receives a message in the form of a simple piece of paper in a windstorm. The notecard only says, "I'm Searching For You." Agent Gibbs, as levelheaded and grounded as they come, looked upon the message warily. Maybe it was nothing more than simple human curiosity that got him to make that initial inquiry. Maybe it was the oddity that the message kept changing in his hands, sometimes adding a picture of an island paradise, other times adding ten simple digits - a phone number in Hawaii. But mostly it was the fact that only HE could see the message. No one else, not even his girlfriend, Christiana, could see anything other than a blank piece of paper. Making that phone call started Agent Gibbs off on the biggest manhunt of his career, a search that takes him across the country looking for 96 escapees of the Perception Is Reality Project. Where those escapees are going is not the big question...Where they have come from... IS!

Book excerpt: Perception and cognition – seeing, hearing and understanding – are main themes in the Biblical Hebrew text of Jeremiah 1:1-6:30. This volume examines the text using a cognitive linguistics approach. This recently developed approach allows the modern reader to more fully understand the ancient text by observing aspects of embodied experience that are shared across time, space and culture, such as image schemas, conceptual metaphor and more elaborate conceptual blends. In addition to offering insights into some key textual disjunctions, these findings contribute towards reading and understanding the final form of the text.

Full book Perception Affectivity and Volition in Husserl s Phenomenology. This book was released on 2017-05-23 with total page 202 pages. Book excerpt: This collection of essays by scholars from Europe, Asia, North America, and Latin America offers new perspectives of the phenomenological investigation of experiential life on the basis of Husserl’s phenomenology. Not only well-known works of Husserl are interpreted from new angles, but also the latest volumes of the Husserliana are closely examined. In a variety of ways, the contributors explore the emergence of reason in experience that is disclosed in the very regions that are traditionally considered to be “irrational” or “pre-rational.” The leading idea of such explorations is Husserl’s view that perception, affectivity, and volition are regarded as the three aspects of reason. Without affectivity, which is supposedly irrational, no rationality can be established in the spheres of representation and volition, whereas volitional and representational acts consistently structure the process of affective experience. In such a framework, it is also shown that theoretical and practical reason are inseparably intertwined. Thus, the papers collected here can be regarded as a collaborative phenomenological investigation into the entanglement and mutual dependency of the supposedly “rational” and the “irrational” as well as that of the “practical” and the “theoretical.”

Read and Download Angela Schottenhammer book The Perception of Maritime Space in Traditional Chinese Sources in PDF, EPub, Mobi, Kindle online. Full book The Perception of Maritime Space in Traditional Chinese Sources. This book was released on 2006 with total page 240 pages. Book excerpt: The present collection of essays has originally been prepared for an international conference entitled "Maritime Space in Traditional Chinese Sources" which has been convened by the editors at Munich University in February 2005. The contributions included here introduce various aspects related to East Asian seas - from the Japanese Sea to the South China Sea, with the Yellow and East China Seas constituting the core regions of the entire area - and some of its "adjacent" areas. Although Braudelian categories are inherently present in the discussion and directly addressed in one or two papers, the focus lies on a set of more "basic" variables, which are intimately linked to the idea of contact zones, or alternatively, the parallel (and apparently older) notion that the sea should be seen as a protective belt around the mainland. This volume is consequently primarily concerned with the perception of maritime space in traditional Chinese sources, the division of this space into oceans and seas, the existence, usage and management of trade routes, and, above all, of China's coastal waters, or maritime periphery. For this purpose, in addition to textual sources, maps will be examined as well. As the perception, division and management of maritime space cannot be completely disassociated from other themes - such as trade and travel, diplomacy and military controls, or even daily life during a sea voyage - these aspects were also touched upon in the discussion. But they are of secondary importance and subordinated to the general issue of "geography". With this in mind, following an introductory essay by Angela Schottenhammer, the contributions are divided into three sections: (1) Maritime Space: Trade and Defence; (2) Maritime Space: Coasts, Routes, Oceans; (3) Maritime Space and Maps. The articles by Chang Pin-tsun, Jane Kate Leonard and Jung Byung-chul fall into the first category. Those by Chen Bo / Liu Yingsheng, Sally K. Church, Christine Moll-Murata, Li Tana and Mathieu Torck belong to the second group, while the last section is comprised by the papers of Li Xiaocong, Claudine Salmon and Roderich Ptak. There are many "cross connections" between these essays. Geographically, some of them pertain to the northern spheres, especially the Liaodong-Korea region, others look at the South China Sea, or even at areas far beyond these two. Some are case studies, others deal with general dimensions. The military element, usually in the form of coastal defence, is not only present in the first section, but also in the "cartographic" segment, and in one or two contributions which appear in part two. Furthermore, readers will find that the idea of contact zones, associated with a good degree of open-mindedness towards the "outer world", is present in some texts, just as they will discover that in other cases, the sea still appears as a kind of barrier.
